AAPI Heritage Month officially ends today, however, this does not mean we should stop learning about and honoring Asian culture. This is the start of an ongoing series that I will be hosting to help everyone – including myself, learn more about the various Asian countries.
As you know, I’ve been on a bit of a rampage regarding all the AAPI Hate and racism since the start of the pandemic. One of the solutions I always suggest is to listen and learn from your Asian American friends. I’m taking my own advice and hosting panels of incredible humans who will be sharing some fun and insightful facts about their culture. I’ve also been exhausted from the AAPI panels these past months discussing the anti-Asian hate crimes and all the challenges the community has been facing. While that is of course extremely important, I am excited to share some positive and fun things about our culture as a departure from the heavy issues.
Do Cambodians celebrate Lunar New Year the same way I do? I don’t know – but I found out in this episode! We explore food, holidays, language, and how each guest identifies as an Asian American.
For this first episode, I only invited the ladies to join the conversation. #girlpower I am excited to introduce you to some exceptional female community leaders. #womenempoweringwomen.
I’d like to thank my guests who share their Cambodian, Vietnamese, Filipina, and Japanese-Brazilian heritage with me today:
Onchantho Am, Mai D, Leia V. Leitner, and Thali Sugisawa
I was inspired by this conversation and am excited to share their stories with you.
I hope you enjoy the episode!
