Teaching AAPI history is now required for K-12 schools in Florida.
What’s next?
After a challenging legislative session, we’re taking a look at the next steps for ensuring that AAPI history is taught accurately and meaningfully in our schools. Spoiler alert: It’s happening, but slowly!
Learning about Asian American and Pacific Islander history is essential for all students, as is learning about all history. I’m excited to share some of the Asian American pioneers I learned about during this process, as well as to announce a special project I’m working on for AAPI history in Florida.
