I had so much fun catching up with comics creator Brian Michael Bendis. His newest comic book with artist André Lima Araújo, Phenomena, is a gorgeous fantasy adventure series which just hit shelves on September 14, 2022. Brian shares his inspiration for the series as well as his excitement and fears when creating new worlds and characters.
I was excited to finally get to talk to Brian about one of my favorite comic books, Powers, which recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the series.
It is so much fun talking to Brian about his comics community in Portland, who I am grateful to call many of them friends. The only downside to this conversation is that I ran out of time and have so much more to talk with Brian about! Good news: he has agreed to come back on the show so there will be more Brian Bendis in the future.
For those that don’t already know:
Brian Michael Bendis is an award-winning comics creator, Amazon and New York Times bestseller, and one of the most successful writers working in mainstream comics.
Brian is best known for his work on Superman, Powers, Jessica Jones, PEARL, Iron Man, Xmen, and the list goes on. Our first conversation centered around his introduction of the multiracial SPIDER-MAN, Miles Morales. Link here in case you missed it!
I’m loving these conversations and hope you are too. If you are, please rate my podcast on your platform of choice and share it with others!
